Dispensing Studies
There is a continuous increase in manpower demand for well-trained, competent dispensers in healthcare institutions for both Hospital Authority hospitals and private medical sectors, including public and private hospitals, medical clinics, nursing homes, and residential care homes for the elderly.
The VTC Earn and Learn Scheme aims to provide students with comprehensive professional training of a wide range of knowledge, skills and techniques in drug dispensing services. It is suitable for students aspire to pursue a career in dispensing industry that they can obtain the academic knowledge and qualification while gaining work experiences.

Study Arrangement

The first year: |
Participants will study the full-time Higher Diploma in Dispensing Studies at IVE. |
|
The second to third years: |
Participants will be employed by the participating companies as apprentices. For the second and third years, the employer will sponsor the apprentice to study the Higher Diploma (HD) programme at IVE for one to two days per week. |
Allowance & Salary*

The second to third years |
Participants will receive a total of $30,800 Industry Incentive Allowance and $54,000 government subsidy from their employers and the government respectively. Given a guaranteed monthly salary not less than $9,000#, the total monthly income will be above $10,000. |

* Mode of issuing subsidy and Government Allowance may vary across trades and industries.
# For apprentices who join the VTC Earn & Learn Scheme on or after 1 April 2024, the guaranteed monthly salary will be adjusted to $10,000.
& For apprentices who join the VTC Earn & Learn Scheme on or after 1 April 2024, they will be entitled to the Monthly Apprenticeship Training Allowance of $1,000 per month during the apprenticeship.
Tuition Fees
- Participants will need to pay the tuition fees for the first year of HD programme.
- Employers will sponsor the tuition fees for the second and third year of HD programme.
Entry Requirement
- Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English Language and Chinese Language; or
- VTC Foundation Diploma (Level 3) / Diploma of Foundation Studies; or
- VTC Diploma in Vocational Education / Diploma of Vocational Education; or
- Yi Jin Diploma / Diploma Yi Jin or Equivalent.
