因應年長旅遊人士不斷增加而帶來
的新需求，

HTI
與設計、資訊
科技和酒店、服務及旅遊三個學科
合作，開展一項跨學科研究—「銀
髮一族酒店套房」。此計劃旨在探討
年長人士旅遊市場的趨勢，以構思
切合長者需要的酒店套房設計方案。
Research Outcomes
In addition to arranging capability-
building activities, we conducted
several multi-disciplinary research
p r o j e c t s , i n c l u d i n g a sma r t
schoolbag and a smart healthcare
monitoring system. The smar t
schoolbag was introduced in a bid
to help kindergarten and primary
school pupils develop the habit of
packing their schoolbags properly
every day. The smart healthcare
monitoring system, equipped with a
social robot, was developed by the
VTC’s Engineering Discipline and will
be showcased in the InnoCarnival
2015 organised by the Innovation
and Technology Commission.
Environment and sustainability,
a l on g w i t h t h e c i t y ’s a g e i n g
population, are also among our
current areas of strategic focus.
During the year, the THEi-HK Asphalt
Materials Centre was established
wi t h f und i ng f r om Hong Kong
Asphalt Green Limited to conduct
research into the development and
testing of construction materials.
THEi’s research team and students
also applied sustainable fashion
concepts in transforming footwear
design. To address the needs of
the increasing number of senior
travellers, the VTC launched a cross-
disciplinary ‘Model Hotel Suite for
the Silver Hair Market’ project in
collaboration with the HTI and our
Design, Information Technology, and
Hotel, Service and Tourism Studies
Disciplines. Its aim is to explore
trends in the senior tourism market
in order to set out the framework for
an age-friendly hotel suite design.
