Research drives innovation and
develops new knowledge, thereby
improving people’s lives. To this
end, the VTC devotes considerable
efforts and resources to practical
social and industrial research
alongside the pursuit of educational
excellence.
To maximise our research impact,
we are keen to promote inter-
disciplinar y research and focus
on areas where we have proven
strengths, namely VPET; social
innovation for an ageing population;
and environment and sustainability.
I n 2 0 1 4 , we e s t a b l i s h e d a
research support unit to facilitate
collaboration between different
operational units and consolidate
our research efforts, particularly
in the area of practical social and
industrial research (PSIR).
During the year, we successfully
secured funding from external
sources for conducting PSIR. To
strengthen our staff research
capabilities, a series of research
skills training workshops and site
visits was arranged. The annual
PSIR Symposium also provided a
platform for researchers and VPET
practitioners to share knowledge
and gain insights into practical
technological research and VPET
trends from the scholars.

的工作。
年內，我們成功取得外間資助，進
行社會及工商業實用研究，並安排
了連串的研究技巧研習坊和實地
觀摩，提升員工實力。一年一度的
PSIR
研討會不單為研究人員及職業
專才教育人員提供分享知識和交流
意見的機會，更可聽取專家學者對
實用技術研究及職業專才教育發展
趨勢的精闢見解。
