Promoting Internationalisation
While celebrating our past achievements, we at the VTC have
to press ahead and continuously reinvent our strategies
to fulfil our mission and better serve our community. With
that in mind, we have supported Government policies
and proactively responded to industry needs to provide
diversified progression pathways for young people and
promote lifelong learning. A major part of our work in
2012/13 was promoting internationalisation.
Since 2010, the Government has been stepping up its
efforts to enhance Hong Kong’s status as a regional
education hub through education reform as well as
internationalisation and diversification. Echoing the
Government’s call and in line with the changing landscape,
we began to admit non-local students to the Higher Diploma
(HD) in 2012/13. At the same time, we built networks
with Mainland and overseas institutes and corporations
and strengthened our international capability, which is
essential to the internationalisation of our programmes and
institutions. Exchange activities covering familiarisation
visits, exchange camps, enrichment programmes and
industrial attachments were organised for more than 6,000
students in the year.
