Globalisation and the changing socio-economic landscape
bring new challenges and opportunities. As with many
advanced economies, Hong Kong faces a rapidly ageing
population and dwindling workforce. Nurturing young talents
and assisting them to unleash their full potential becomes
crucial. A pragmatic framework has to be in place to close
the skills gap and ensure young people can be gainfully
employed. To cope with challenges and cater for new
demands, we will continue to capitalise on our strengths
and drive innovation in our curriculum and offerings, as
well as joining hands with industry and employers on skills
development. Some new initiatives such as the International
Culinary Institute, products and services in support of ageing
population and new training schemes are in the pipeline.
In Appreciation
As we embark on our new journey, I would like to take this
opportunity to pay tribute to the Council members, as well
as the Government, industry partners and various sectors of
society for their staunch support, which has facilitated the
implementation of various works and initiatives of the VTC.
Thanks also go to all colleagues, students and alumni for
their support and unwavering pursuit of excellence.
With the concerted efforts of all VTC members and our
valued partners, I am confident that we can succeed in
catalysing skills development and nurturing even more
competent professionals for a better and sustainable Hong
Kong.

全球化和社會經濟體系的轉變,亦為我們帶
來新挑戰與機遇。與許多先進經濟體系一
樣,香港同樣面對人口急劇老化、勞動人口
萎縮的挑戰。因此,培育年輕專才,協助他
們盡展潛能,變得更形重要。我們必須構
建務實方針,並落實推行,方能填補技能空
缺,確保年輕人受益獲僱。為應付挑戰、回
應需求,
VTC
將繼續強化自身優勢,同時為課
程注入創新元素,與業界和僱主在技能發展
上攜手向前。目前,我們已積極籌劃新項目
以迎合需要,包括籌建國際廚藝學院、策劃
針對人口老化的產品及服務,以及一系列新
培訓計劃等。
