embarking on new horizons
Education has long been described as a strong impetus
for growth, which helps generate the skills and knowledge
required for a capable and productive economy. With
increased globalisation and shifting demands for a
diversified workforce with varied skills, vocational education
and training has never been more important to economic
success. The VTC takes pride in playing a key role in
empowering people with knowledge and bridging the
gap between student needs and employer expectations,
enhancing the overall sustainable competitiveness of Hong
Kong.
At the VTC, we recognise the importance and value of
individuals and diversity. To this end, we are committed
to fostering the intellectual and cultural growth and civic
awareness of our students, preparing them to make
significant contributions to their communities in the
Region and beyond. In 2012/13, we not only embraced
internationalisation as one of our key missions but also
made major strides in realising this objective. In addition
to admitting non-local students, we have strengthened our
international arm and cultivated internationalism on campus.
We also sought out collaborative opportunities regionally
and internationally in student and staff exchanges, research,
internship programmes and other areas of interests, while
building close ties with institutions and organisations in the
Mainland.
