Discipline Overview of Design

Hong Kong has emerged as one of the regional creative capitals, where innovation creates global values and opportunities and generates enormous economic value.

 

In support of the government policy on developing the cultural and creative industries, Design Discipline provides through Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) the quality design education that cultivates knowledge, professionalism and new talents facilitating the prosperity of the creative industries and responding to the growing demand for design innovation of enterprises.

 

 

Articulation

 

2+1 International Track

 

Design Discipline Higher Diploma students will be offered an 2+1 International Track which affirms a smooth articulation to a relevant locally accredited, Hong Kong government recognised honours bachelor’s degree programme offered by designated UK universities upon successful completion of their studies and the qualification is equivalent to a local degree programme.

 

Students pursue their full-time top-up degree programmes offered under this 2+1 International Track scheme will receive a non-means-tested annual subsidy of $33,740# from the Government.

Graduates may progress to the relevant THEi Degree programmes or apply for degree programmes offered by local and overseas universities for further studies.

Graduates may be employed as graphic, advertising, digital, sound, visual communication, brand, information, illustration, user experience design, multimedia, product, jewellery, timepiece, eyewear, architectural, interior, exhibition, stage, set, furniture, lifestyle product, fashion image, fashion visual merchandising and fashion designers, photographers, artists and art administration assistants, fashion brand management executives, fashion buyers, fashion journalists, hairstylists, animators, TV and film production assistants, audio engineer, and music producers, etc.
