The construction of a new campus

for the I nter nat i ona l Cu l i nar y

I ns t i t u t e ( I C I ) i n Pok f u l am i s

also under way. ICI’s purpose-

bu i l t c ampu s w i t h ad v an c ed

facilities, together with the Chinese

Culinary Institute and Hotel and

Tourism Institute in the Southern

District of Hong Kong Island will

form a campus-like venue called

‘Hospitality Pokfulam’. Alliances

and international networking are

key success factors in today’s

knowledge-based economy. We

hope that this new landmark can

become a vibrant hive of hospitality

activity that further advances the

culinar y and hospitality industr y

of all participating countries and

regions.

To support the provision of quality

VPET ser vices for the coming

years, we will draw up a strategic

development plan for our campuses

to foster synergy and provide more

state-of-the-art facilities, which are

pivotal to enhancing the image and

quality of VPET.

Research Capability

During the year, we have also

explored new ways to enhance the

standard of our VPET and support

Government’s efforts to promote

technological transformation, in

particular through practical social

and industrial research.

the Research Grants Council’s

Competitive Research Funding

Schemes for the Local Self-financing

Degree Sector, our degree-awarding

THEi was awarded grants for over

ten research projects. This was

definitely encouraging news for us.

Our plan is ready. It is hoped that all

these efforts will further strengthen

the position of VPET in Hong Kong

and enhance its reputation.

A Word of Appreciation

In closing, I should like to express

my sincere thanks to our Council

members for their valuable guidance

over the years, as well as our many

partners in the Government, industry

and various sectors of society. The

progress made by the VTC over the

past year owes much to their strong

support.

We look forward to continuing to

work hand in hand with all these

parties to unleash the full power of

VPET in the years to come.

作為活力求進的職業專才教育

機構,入讀人數不斷上升,而學生

對宿位的需求亦隨之增加。為了

回應學生的住宿需求,我們應當有

策略地探討如何發展校園。年內,

我們開展了多項建設工程,在建項

目包括香港高等教育科技學院

(THEi)

位於柴灣的環保校園,以及位於

IVE

(

青衣

)

的學生宿舍。

選址薄扶林的國際廚藝學院新校園

亦在施工當中。學院配有先進設施,

將與同位於港島南區的中華廚藝

學院和酒店及旅遊學院,綜合發展

成名為「薄扶林客道」的校群。我

們深明在知識為本的經濟體系下,

結盟協作是獲取成功的關鍵。我們

亦冀望這個新地標能為業界打造

一個迸發活力、發揮協同效應的

學習環境,進一步推動參與國家和

地區的餐飲及款接業發展。

在未來數年,我們將訂立策略性校

園發展規劃,以提供優質的職業專

才教育。而促進協同效應,持續提

供先進設施,對於提升專業教育形

象和質素尤為關鍵。

研發實力

年內,我們亦探究新方法,重點透

過實用性的社會及行業研究,加以

完善職業專才教育水平,支持政府

推行技術改造。

在研究資助局最新一輪本地自資學

位界別競逐研究資助計劃中,提供

學位課程的

THEi

,超過十個研究項

目獲得撥款。對我們來說,確是令

人鼓舞的好消息。

我們蓄勢待發,冀盼大家的努力能

使職業專才教育在香港整固根基,

倍添聲望。
