A strong commitment to good corporate citizenship is a
core value of the VTC. Over the years, the VTC has been
promoting environmental protection on and off campus
through recycling and reduction of waste. During the year,
different energy and water saving devices and equipment
were installed in the VTC premises.
In recognition of the support to local recycling work, the
Environmental Protection Department and the Management
Company of EcoPark awarded “Friends of EcoPark 2012/13”
to the VTC. We have also been presented the Caring
Organisation Award by the Hong Kong Council of Social
Service for seven consecutive years.
Meanwhile, the VTC encourages its students and staff to
take part in community projects to enhance community
involvement and to give back to society. Over 20,000
students and staff supported the territory-wide Volunteer
Movement project organised by the Social Welfare
Department, with over 380,000 service hours recorded in
2012. Throughout the year, over 2,300 hours of volunteer
work in environmentally related activities were also
recorded.
