Vinnce LO Wing-sze, who graduated from the Hong Kong Institute
of Vocational Education (IVE) in 2013 with a Higher Diploma in
Telecommunications and Networking, had a keen interest in
computers from an early age. After assembling her first computer
when she was a secondary student, Vinnce set out to pursue
a career in information technology. She opted for the IVE after
graduating from secondary school.
While studying, Vinnce participated in extra-curricular activities,
voluntary services, cultural exchange programmes and also acted as
a VTC student ambassador. She described life at the IVE as “fruitful”
and said she had benefited a lot. “Thanks to the rich campus life and
dedicated teachers, I become more motivated and confident.”
Vinnce thought the programmes offered by the IVE strike a balance
between theory and practice. In addition to empowering students
with professional knowledge, the institute also offers practical
training and placement opportunities. “I was attached to the
Housing Authority, and acted as a team leader of the internship
group, assisting in planning and organising teammates’ tasks. In
the internship, we were tasked to install and test software in the
office. Each of us was required to handle around 10 computers
a day and so effective time management became crucial. The
attachment experience allowed me to practise what I have learned
in a real working environment. It also enhanced my leadership
and communication skills and better equipped me for entering the
business world.”
Her outstanding performance in academic and extra-curricular
activities has earned her a number of scholarships from the the VTC,
Government and other organisations. She was recently awarded the
Alistair Harvey Foundation scholarship to further her study in the
UK for a bachelor degree in information technology. Vinnce hopes
to develop a web-based home healthcare monitoring system for the
elderly after graduation.

裝嵌出人生首部電腦，此後立志投身資訊科技
行業。中學畢業後，她選擇入讀
IVE
。

修讀期間，她積極參加各類課外活動、義
工服務和文化交流計劃，並擔任
VTC
學生大使。
她形容在
IVE
的校園生活十分充實，令她獲益良
多。她表示︰「豐盛的校園生活，加上一班對教
學充滿熱誠的良師，令我變得更有動力、更自
信。」
勞詠詩認為
IVE
的課程理論與實踐並重。除了增
強學生的專業知識，學院亦提供實務培訓及實
習機會。「我獲安排到香港房屋委員會實習，並
擔任實習生小組組長，協助計劃及安排組員的
工作。實習任務是為辦公室內的電腦安裝軟件
及進行測試，每人每天負責約十部電腦，時間
管理要掌握得很好。這次實習經驗讓我在職場
應用所學，領導及溝通技巧也提高不少，為日
後投身商業世界作好準備。」
勞詠詩不但學業成績優異，在課外活動的表現
亦相當出色，先後獲得
VTC
、政府及其他機構獎
學金。最近，她獲賀維雅基金會頒發獎學金，
負笈英國修讀資訊科技學士課程。她希望畢業
後能研發長者家居護理網上監察系統。
