Entrance Requirements
Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English Language and Chinese Language; OR VTC Diploma of Foundation Studies; OR VTC Diploma of Vocational Education / Diploma of Vocational Baccalaureate; OR Diploma Yi Jin; OR Equivalent.
Remarks :
  1. An "Attained", "Attained with Distinction (I)" and "Attained with Distinction (II)" in an HKDSE Applied Learning (ApL) subject (Category B subjects) are regarded as equivalent to an HKDSE subject at "Level 2", "Level 3" and "Level 4" respectively, and a maximum of two ApL subjects (excluding ApL(C)) can be counted for admission purpose.
  2. A "Grade D or E" and a "Grade C or above" in an HKDSE Other Language subject (Category C subjects) are regarded as equivalent to an HKDSE subject at "Level 2" and "Level 3" respectively, and one Other Language subject can be counted for admission purpose.
  3. Applicable to holders of Diploma in Vocational Education / Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) (students admitted to DVE in AY2017/18 or before are required to complete prescribed further studies modules).
  4. Upon completion of the Diploma of Vocational Baccalaureate (DVB) Programmes, students can progress to higher diploma programmes in VTC, subject to their BTEC and IGCSE results.
  5. Students enrolling in this programme are required to pass a medical examination for food handler at student's own expense.
  6. Students are required to purchase the designated uniforms.
Programme Aims
This programme aims to prepare students with conventional hotel operation skills and to nurture creativity and ideation abilities through learning smart technology application, like smart service design and digital visualization for hotel, to cope with the smart hotel trend in 21st-century through workplace learning and assessment.

Students will have opportunities to be trained and to learn in different tiers of hotels to acquire relevant industrial competencies throughout the 2 years of studies. After completion of the higher diploma, students can articulate to the one-year top-up honours degree programme offered by SHAPE and the UK partner universities. Then apply for the supervisory trainee / management trainee programme offered by the employers after graduation.
Career Prospects
Graduates are competent to develop their careers in the hotel and catering industry in Hong Kong, Macau, Mainland China and overseas.
Articulation
Graduates can pursue relevant top-up degrees locally or overseas. They can apply for admission to the top-up degree programme offered by the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), a member institution of the VTC, or the top-up degree programmes in Hong Kong offered by the overseas universities in collaboration with the SHAPE :
  1. BA (Hons) in Hotel Operations Management offered by the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi)
  2. BSc (Hons) International Hospitality Business Management# offered by the Sheffield Hallam University, UK

The programme is accredited by the Institute of Hospitality (IoH), UK.
