Entrance Requirements
Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English Language and Chinese Language; OR VTC Diploma of Foundation Studies; OR VTC Diploma of Vocational Education / Diploma of Vocational Baccalaureate; OR Diploma Yi Jin; OR Equivalent.
Remarks :
  1. An "Attained", "Attained with Distinction (I)" and "Attained with Distinction (II)" in an HKDSE Applied Learning (ApL) subject (Category B subjects) are regarded as equivalent to an HKDSE subject at "Level 2", "Level 3" and "Level 4" respectively, and a maximum of two ApL subjects (excluding ApL(C)) can be counted for admission purpose.
  2. A "Grade D or E" and a "Grade C or above" in an HKDSE Other Language subject (Category C subjects) are regarded as equivalent to an HKDSE subject at "Level 2" and "Level 3" respectively, and one Other Language subject can be counted for admission purpose.
  3. Applicable to holders of Diploma in Vocational Education / Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) (students admitted to DVE in AY2017/18 or before are required to complete prescribed further studies modules).
  4. Upon completion of the Diploma of Vocational Baccalaureate (DVB) Programmes, students can progress to higher diploma programmes in VTC, subject to their BTEC and IGCSE results.
Programme Stream
Students may choose one of the following streams to pursue professional knowledge and skills in specific areas :
  • Travel Industry Management Stream
  • MICE and Event Management Stream
Semester one is common to all students.  Starting from Semester two, students will continue their study by stream till the completion of the programme.  The streaming criteria are based on: (i) the number of places available in each stream of the offering campus, (ii) the choice of students and (iii) their academic performance.
Programme Aims
Higher Diploma in Tourism and MICE (Travel Industry Management) :
This programme aims to facilitate students to pursue their careers in the tourism industry. Students will acquire their professional knowledge through a wide spectrum of related subjects, and develop their technical competence through practices in simulated travel agency and industrial attachment.

Higher Diploma in Tourism and MICE (MICE and Event Management) :
This programme aims to facilitate students to pursue their careers in the Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) industry. Students will acquire their professional knowledge through a wide spectrum of MICE-related subjects, and develop their technical competence through practices in industrial attachment at MICE-/event-related organisations.  Students can gain job experiences in the real workplace environment.

This programme is designed with an emphasis on practical job knowledge and skills, generic and language training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation.
Career Prospects
Higher Diploma in Tourism and MICE (Travel Industry Management) :
Graduates can start their careers at entry level in the tourism industry. After accumulating the required operational experiences, they can be promoted to supervisory or middle managerial positions, such as Airline Ground Services Supervisor, Travel Consultant, Tour Operations Manager, Ticketing Manager, etc.

Higher Diploma in Tourism and MICE (MICE and Event Management) :
Graduates can start their careers at entry level in the MICE and tourism event industry. After accumulating the required operational experiences, they can be promoted to supervisory or middle management, such as Project Officer, Event Manager, Convention / Exhibition Project Manager, Event Marketing Manager, Event Services Manager, etc.
Articulation
Graduates can pursue relevant top-up degrees locally or overseas. They can apply for admission to the following top-up degree programmes in Hong Kong offered by overseas universities in collaboration with SHAPE:
  1. BSc (Hons) International Tourism Management# offered by the Sheffield Hallam University, UK
  2. BSc (Hons) Events and Leisure Management# offered by the Sheffield Hallam University, UK (for students from MICE and Event Management Stream only)
  3. BA (Hons) International Hospitality and Tourism Management# offered by the Northumbria University, UK

Professional Recognition
The relevant programme is accredited by the Institute of Hospitality (IoH), UK and the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO).
