Programme Content | To equip working adults and in-service apprentices with craft knowledge and practical training in plumbing and pipefitting. Areas being covered include Plumbing Practice, Plumbing & Construction Drawing, Potable & Flush Water Supplies, Fire Services Mechanical Installation, Building Construction, Hot Water Supply, Plumbing Measurement, Introduction to Information Technology, Plumbing Science, Plumbing Mathematics, Drainage Systems, Combined Services Engineering Drawing and Pipe Work Installation, etc. Required No. of Credits for Graduation: 108 | |
Career Prospects | This programme is approved by the Water Supplies Department (WSD) of the HKSAR Government as a pre-requisite for recognition as a Licensed Plumber. Graduates could be employed in construction sites or renovation companies as craftsmen in plumbing and pipefitting. They could also attend short courses to help them acquire plumbers' licences recognized by the Water Supplies Department. Pursuant to the Water Supply Ordinance, all plumbing installation (except some minor works) must be undertaken by Licensed Plumbers. As there is a great demand for qualified plumbers in the construction industry, this programme provides a good career prospect for our graduates. | |
Articulation | Graduates with a minimum of 4 years' relevant working experience can apply for admission to the short course "Certificate in Plumbing Services (Hong Kong)" (Course Code : EG423703Q). Candidates with a Pass Award from the course can apply for registration as Licensed Plumbers with the Water Supplies Department. | |
