Programme Aims | The programme prepares students for surveying professional careers in: (1) Building Surveying – planning, design and managing building projects; inspection of new and existing buildings; or (2) Quantity Surveying – financial planning and management, tendering and contract administration, value assessment and project management for construction projects. The programme is designed with an emphasis on generic and language training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation. Professional Recognition | The programme has been recognised as academic qualifications being of sufficient academic standard for entry to the Assessment of Professional Competence by the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS). Graduates with relevant working experience can apply as Probationer to undertake prescribed professional training (Normally not less than 36 months) and apply for HKIS Assessment of Professional Competence to admit as Associate Member or Member of HKIS. The programme is widely accepted by the construction industry. It is also accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers as a required academic qualification for their Associate Membership. Graduates with relevant work experience are eligible to become Grades T1 to T3 of Technically Competent Person (TCP) of specific streams and scopes under the Site Supervision Plan System of the Buildings Ordinance. (apply to graduates of the BS Elective Module Set only). Graduates completed the required module of the programme will be issued with Green Cards which fulfills the Mandatory Basic Safety Training requirement for working in construction sites. The programme is a CIC-accredited BIM Coordinator (CCBC) Course*. *Including a pass in the elective module “BIM for Reinforced Concrete Structure.” | ||
