I am able to scale the progression ladder provided by the VTC, from Diploma programme, Higher Diploma programme to Bachelor’s Degree programme, one step after another.
Kaman Yeung
- Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
- Graduate of Youth College in 2008
Currently working with Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO), Kaman Yeung harboured a dream to enter the aviation industry since secondary school years. To realise her dream, she enrolled in Youth College, a VTC member institution offering diploma level prorgrammes, and then articulated to the Higher Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering programme with IVE. She went on and completed THEi’s Bachelor Degree Programme in Aircraft Engineering which augmented her professional profile.
“Progression from Youth College to IVE was smooth as curriculum of the former is tailored for continued study at IVE, which further prepared me for a professional career,” noted Kaman. She remarked that the IVE programme helps get students prepared for the Aircraft Maintenance License recognised by the Civil Aviation Department and provides students with industrial attachment opportunities. At the time, she interned at the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and HAECO to receive training at the workplace and raise professional skills.
Upon graduation from IVE, Kaman was employed by HAECO as an Aircraft Maintenance Mechanic Trainee and has since been promoted to different positions. Later as an Assistant Engineer, she was recommended by the company to study the bachelor’s degree programme with THEi. Kaman said, “The VTC provides a seamless progression ladder, which gradually enhances my professional knowledge and know-how on aircraft engineering.” After completing the bachelor’s degree programme, Kaman was promoted to engineer, on track to realising her aircraft dream.
