Opening new frontiers with creativity

Innovative technology has turned mainstream and is key to Hong Kong’s future success. Impressed by its support and nurture of innovative and startup projects, Dorsett Hospitality International has donated generously to the VTC Innovation and Technology Co-creation Centre (ITCC). The “Innovation Award and Seed Fund Scheme” has been established in the academic year 2021/22 for two years to support the innovative projects of VTC students. The ITCC based in the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) (Morrison Hill) is named “VTC Innovation and Technology Co-creation Centre powered by Dorsett Hospitality International” to honour its sponsor.

Dorsett Hospitality International has established the “Innovation Award and Seed Fund Scheme” to stimulate creativity by offering Higher Diploma students a financial subsidy to turn their innovative ideas into practical applications. Finalist teams are each given HK$10,000 for research or prototyping. The professional judging panel picks the winners on the criteria of innovative and creative levels, practicality, market potential and commercial value, industrial nexus and community impact and possibility for industry collaboration.

Sowing seeds of creativity for industry

Eleven ingenious projects were selected for the finals in the inaugural year of 2022, covering the medical care, retail, hotel, finance, new energy, transport, sports, and elderly health industries. Following deliberation, the panel picked the best two projects for the Innovation Award. Seed funds have also been awarded to both winning teams for project improvement to the marketable level within half a year, to provide for industry application.
