Graced by the presence of representatives from various esteemed organizations, including the Functional Constituency of Education, Legislative Council, Health Bureau, the VTC, the Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi), Far East Consortium, and Dorsett Hospitality International, alongside local and overseas industry partners, the opening ceremony of the Chinese Medicine & Culture Research Center of THEi and D20 Roots took place on 3 November 2023 .

The establishment of the Chinese Medicine & Culture Research Center aims to facilitate increased applied research in the field of Chinese medicine supporting the further advancement of the industry.

Located at the Sai Kung Pak Kong Village, the D20 Roots covers an area of 40,000 square feet serving as a medicinal garden with seven divided distinct areas dedicated to nurturing herbal teas and Lingnan Chinese medicine.  This real farm setting provides students with invaluable opportunities to acquire hands-on nurturing skills and deepen their understanding of the properties of herbal medicines.

Mr Donald TONG, Executive Director of the VTC, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Far East Consortium and Dorsett Hospitality International for their staunch support to the VTC through generous donations and provision of the farmland, playing a pivotal role in empowering students to immerse themselves into the study of Chinese medicine.  This support has not only allowed for a comprehensive exploration of Chinese medicine but also fostered the development of an analytical mindset and critical thinking skills through valuable multidisciplinary collaboration opportunities.

Traditional Chinese medicine holds a significant place as a treasure of the Chinese nation, embodying the essence of traditional Chinese culture.  VTC and THEi remain committed to exploring cross-sectoral collaborations and fostering the growth of high-caliber vocational and professional talents.  By expanding the talent pool for Hong Kong, VTC strives for a healthier and better future aligned with the principles of traditional Chinese medicine.
