Basic Information
The programme focuses on generic skills and language training as well as a broad coverage of knowledge of building services and operating principles of various kinds of building facilities. It covers Safety, Health and Environment, Building Services Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, Electrical Services Practices, Project Skills and Final Year Project and aims to better prepare working students for further studies and career development after graduation.

Professional Recognition
The programme is recognised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of the HKSAR as satisfying the academic requirements for the registration as Grade A Electrical Worker. With relevant electrical working experience, graduates may apply for Grade A Electrical Worker registration.
- Students are required to follow the programme arrangements stipulated by YC, on average 3 - 4 evenings per week, normally 3 semesters per academic year.
- Most of the modules in the programmes are conducted and assessed in Chinese.
- Students may be required to attend classes on other VTC campuses. VTC reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme title, content or change the offering institute(s) / campus(es) / class venue(s) if circumstances so warrant.
- Applicants with higher qualifications or relevant work experience may apply for exemption for some modules.
Entrance Requirements
- Holders of Craft Certificate in Building Services Engineering / Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration OR Certificate of Vocational Education (Building Services Engineering / Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration) issued by Youth College OR Equivalent
Articulation / Employment
Holders of Diploma of Vocational Education are considered having met the general entrance requirements of Higher Diploma programmes (not applicable to programmes with specific entrance requirements). Please refer to the details of Higher Diploma programmes in this homepage.
Graduates may be employed as technicians or assistant to engineers in the trade of building services engineering.
Tuition Fees
- Some students may be required to study bridging modules or enhancement programmes to better support their study; or to attend additional training and industrial attachment, for which separate fees will be charged.
- Tuition fees are subject to annual review.
