Basic Information

The programme covers knowledge of building services and operating principles of various kinds of building facilities. It covers Safety, Health and Environment, Building Services Engineering Technology, Electrical Theory, Building Services Engineering Drawing, Electrical Services, Air-conditioning, Fire Services, Plumbing & Drainage Practices and Intelligent Home System, etc.

Professional Recognition

The programme is recognised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department of the HKSAR as satisfying the academic requirements for the registration as Grade A Electrical Worker.

Remarks

Students are required to follow the programme arrangements stipulated by YC, on average 1 day and 1 - 2 evenings per week, normally 3 semesters per academic year. The actual curriculum hours may be slightly different from the normal curriculum hours due to the electives chosen.
Some evening classes will be conducted at Youth College (Kwai Chung).

Notes

Most of the modules in the programmes are conducted and assessed in Chinese.
Students may be required to attend classes on other VTC campuses. VTC reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme title, content or change the offering institute(s) / campus(es) / class venue(s) if circumstances so warrant.
Applicants with higher qualifications, holders of BCC in other streams or those who possess relevant work experience may apply for study exemption for some of the modules.

Articulation

Graduates may further their studies in the Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) programme. Holders of Diploma of Vocational Education are considered having met the general entrance requirements of Higher Diploma programmes (not applicable to programmes with specific entrance requirements). Career Prospects

Graduates may be employed as craftsmen or engineering assistants in the trade of building services after completing their apprenticeship.
