Basic Information

The programme aims to provide students with comprehensive training in the field of fashion. It is designed to equip students with professional knowledge and skills related to various aspects of fashion, including fashion design and portfolio making, fashion color trend analysis, pattern design and sizing systemisation, garment sewing, fabric design and manufacturing, fashion marketing etc.

By combining theoretical learning with practical application, the programme aims to prepare graduates for successful careers and further studies in the fashion industry. Upon completion of the programme, graduates will have the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue Higher Diploma programmes at HKDI or other member institutions of VTC. Additionally, they will also have the opportunity to apply for admission to Degree programmes offered both locally and overseas.

The Medium of Instruction (MOI) is, in the main, Chinese with some modules taught and assessed in English.

Notes

Normally 3 semesters during one academic year.
Students may be required to attend classes on other VTC campuses. VTC reserves the right to cancel any programme, revise programme title, content or change the offering institute(s) / campus(es) / class venue(s) if circumstances so warrant.

Holders of Diploma of Vocational Education are considered having met the general entrance requirements of Higher Diploma programmes (not applicable to programmes with specific entrance requirements). Please refer to the details of Higher Diploma programmes in this homepage.

Career Prospects

Graduates may be employed as junior fashion designer, fashion product developer, fashion illustrator, fashion styling designer, pattern-making technologist.

Remarks

DVE students who have not obtained Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics may consider taking the elective module “Mathematics 3E: Mathematics for Further Studies” for the eligibility to apply for VTC’s Higher Diploma programmes which require Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics as one of their entrance requirements.

Remarks

The study duration of Diploma of Vocational Education programmes is normally 1 year. The tuition fee is payable in two instalments. Each instalment is HK$11,410.
In addition to tuition fees, students will be required to pay other fees, such as caution money and students’ union annual fees.
Some students may be required to study bridging modules or enhancement programmes to support their study; or to attend additional training, industrial attachments, public examinations for which separate fees will be charged.
Tuition fees are subject to annual review.
Applicants shall refer to the Government's revised eligibility criteria for subvented study places and subsidies for AY2027/28 and beyond.
