Basic Information

This programme builds foundational knowledge and skills in Games and Digital Media domain, a key area of Information Technology. Students learn to evaluate and analyse games and digital media content, understand digital rights and responsibilities, and adapt to emerging technologies for content creation — preparing them for further study and pursuing careers in the Innovation and Technology sector. The programme also emphasizes interpersonal skills, teamwork, and self‑directed lifelong learning.

Graduates of Diploma of Foundation Studies are eligible to apply for VTC’s Higher Diploma programmes, which normally require five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including Chinese Language and English Language.

Career Prospects

Students will gain the skills needed for employment across the game, digital and innovative media, and related industries. Students will have opportunities to build industry portfolios through studio-style projects.

Remarks

Diploma of Foundation Studies students may also consider taking the optional module 'Foundation Mathematics III' for the eligibility to apply for VTC's Higher Diploma programmes or related civil service jobs which require Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics as one of their entrance requirements. Separate tuition fee will be charged for this optional module.

Mainland Tour

The study tour provides students with opportunities to visit a range of game development and digital media companies in Mainland, enabling them to gain first-hand exposure to the latest industry technologies and development trends. The tour enhances students' understanding of the games and digital media industries while inspiring their future academic and career planning.

Student Activity

The programme arranged game and digital media activities and encouraged students to join different competitions and community engagement activities, broadening their horizons and showcasing their talents. One student won Champion in the Tertiary category of the Sha Tin IVE Gen Z AI digital media technology video competition 2026 – Futurescaping: Career. Students also joined the "Soft Meal Afternoon Tea Gathering 'Flowers' Youth" and Recognition Ceremony, jointly organised by the VTC Community Engagement Unit and Sik Sik Yuen. By applying innovative digital technologies and character design to promote soft meal culture, students showed how digital technology transforms professional knowledge into meaningful community care.
