Diploma of Foundation Studies (Community Services)

Through the Diploma of Foundation Studies (Community Services), I have gained insights in my future goals and pursuits. Studying this programme became the cornerstone of my decision to pursue further studies. At the same time, through community practice and learning, I discovered my interest and potential in human-centered services. After completing the programme, I successfully advanced to the Higher Diploma in Special Child Care and Inclusive Education through VTC's well-designed progression pathway, which allowed me to gain more knowledge and skills related to special education and to serve society upon graduation.

I started my journey in the Diploma of Foundation Studies (Community Services) and progressed to the Higher Diploma in Social Work, from which I have been equipped with professional knowledge, communication and social skills, cum relevant service learning oppotunities. Such experiences have strengthened my career commitment to move forward to become a professional social worker in serving the community.

The Diploma of Foundation Studies allowed me to engage with various social welfare organisations and kindergartens, helping me find my career direction. The programme is equivalent to five Level 2 subjects in the DSE, enabling me to register for professional qualifications after completing my Higher Diploma and progress to Bachelor’s Degree. Thus, I began my career in special early childhood education.

The Diploma of Foundation Studies helped me solidify my aspiration to pursue a career in social work and laid a strong academic and professional foundation. This enabled me to progress to higher qualifications. After graduation, I became a social worker dedicated to serving the community.
