    Senior Technician
    Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong

    Major Duties:
    (a) To design and document the LAN or telecommunications infrastructure of THEi campuses, and oversee the configuration, testing and installation of equipment;
    (b) To prepare specifications, manage the procurement of hardware, and oversee the configuration, testing, installation and maintenance of equipment included the server farm, IP phone system, audio visual system and Wi-Fi access;
    (c) To arrange and coordinate the commissioning of the computer laboratories; and
    (d) To assist in the evaluation of vendors and service contracts.
       
    Requirements:
    (a) A recognised diploma or a higher certificate in a related field;
    (b) At least 6 years’ relevant work experience, preferably with relevant experience in computing field in educational institutions or comparable organisations;
    (c) Good knowledge of operation, maintenance and trouble-shooting of computer hardware, network and servers;
    (d) Applicants with good knowledge and hands-on experience in network administration (Cisco or Ruckus Wi-Fi solution), IP phone system, system administration (MS Windows Server) and/or VMware implementation would have an advantage;
    (e) Good communication, interpersonal, organisational and supervisory skills;
    (f) Ability to work independently and be pro-active; and
    (g) Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
         
    Notes:
    (1) The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays.
    (2) The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
    (3) Applicants with less experience will be considered for the post of Technician.
