    A wide range of overseas study and exchange opportunities is offered by the Discipline to widen our students’ horizon and enhance their international exposure.

    These exchange programmes and field trips provide students with "world class" exposure to different cultural environments and international service standards. They help cultivate students’ cultural sensibility and improve their communication skills, which will enhance their competitiveness in the global job market.

    Previous exchange opportunities include:

    Four IVE Hospitality students with good proficiency in Japanese were sent to Osaka and Tokyo in Japan for a two-month industrial attachment (IA) offered by JTB Corporation in July - August 2018. One of the participants, Mr. Chan Kam Hei, Year 2 student of Higher Diploma in Tourism and MICE, had a wonderful learning and working experience at the JTB Kyoto office and information counter at the Kensai airport under the well-structured internship programme.


    In summer 2018, three students studying IVE Higher Diploma in Hotel and Catering Management had engaged in a 2-month industrial attachment (IA) programme offered by Hotel Mercure Majestic at La Baule, France. “My IA experience was unforgettable as I have an opportunity to work at a hotel in France. After all, the working and learning experience in France was truly a priceless experience for me to explore the local culture, language and lifestyle in France.” said Hayley.



    Students of IVE Higher Diploma in Airport Operations Management completed a 2-week industrial attachment and exchange programme at Regional Avalon Airport in Melbourne in 2018.


    Students of IVE Higher Diploma in Hotel and Catering Management attended the Worldchefs Congress and Expo in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 2018.


    Coffee culture becomes popular nowadays. Students from the Higher Diploma in Hotel and Catering Management participated in the first coffee learning tour that organized by IVE Hospitality Discipline in September 2017. Students were able to experience the whole cycle of coffee processing and roasting by visiting renowned coffee shop, workshops and coffee farms in Taiwan.





    In September 2017, Hospitality students joined an educational study tour on the Royal Caribbean Cruise – Voyager of the Seas to Vietnam. The tour provided students with a valuable learning experience about cruise and MICE events operations by inviting the General Manager of Lotus Tours to deliver a seminar on the topic of MICE and cruise business development, behind-the-scenes tour in order to understand cruise operations in a real working environment.



    Students from the Higher Diploma in Tourism and MICE participated in a one-week Australia study programme in July 2017. During the programme, students attended classes and training about sustainable tourism of Australia in TAFE Queensland Institute, visited the University of Queensland, Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre as well as other famous tourism attractions.




    Students from the Hospitality Discipline participated in a two-month Internship Programme in Japan during July to August 2017. They carried out the Internship in the one of the Top 10 enterprises in Japan – JTB Corporation in the first month and Agora Hotel in the second month. Students learned the operations and management of travel agency and hotel.


    Students from Higher Diploma in Hotel & Catering Management and Higher Diploma in International Hospitality and Tourism Management were given a training opportunity to attend one-week wine study tour to Alsace, Bourgogne and Champagne regions in France, May 2016 and 2017.



    Students from Higher Diploma in Hotel & Catering Management and Higher Diploma in International Hospitality and Tourism Management attended an exchange programme to The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management, Dubai in March 2016 and in April 2017.



    Exchange Programme to Austria and Italy in 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017 -
    Students from Higher Diploma in International Hospitality Management and Hotel and Catering Management attended the exchange programme at Tourism Schools Salzburg - Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, Austria. Students received hotel management training delivered by the host institute such as European cuisine cooking class, Wine Service, Destination Management classes..etc, Students also took a one-day tour to Venice in Italy and visited Salzburg where the movie “Sound of Music” was filmed.




    A few talented students from Hospitality Higher Diploma in Hotel & Catering and International Hospitality and Tourism Management were selected to represent IVE Hospitality to attend the World Association of Chefs Societies in Thessaloniki,Greece in September 2016. Students learned the latest development trends of culinary arts, cooking techniques and also participated in a sharing session during the forum on the development of Young Chefs Club in Hong Kong.

    Some students from the Hospitality Discipline participated a two-week Japan Internship Programme in a hotel at Okinawa – Japan in July 2016. Students learned the latest development trends of Japan hotel industry and their service standard.


    Two-Week Internship to Château Le Cléret, Bordeaux, France - Students from Higher Diploma in Hotel & Catering Management were given an internship opportunity from a vineyard in Château Le Cléret near Bordeaux, France during harvest season in October 2015 & September 2016.




    One-term Exchange Programme to Sheffield, UK - Students from Higher Diploma in Tourism and MICE were awarded an exchange scholarship from Sheffield Hallam University (SHU). These students attended the Bachelor Programme of Tourism Management at the SHU for one academic term from September to December, 2015 & 2016.


    A few talented students from Hospitality Higher Diploma in Hotel & Catering and International Hospitality and Tourism Management who are also members of the Hong Kong Young Chefs Club were selected to represent IVE Hospitality to attend the World Association of Chefs Societies in Stavanger, Norway and to deliver a presentation in the Bill Gallagher Young Chefs Forum in July 2014. Students learned the latest development trends of culinary arts, cooking techniques and also participated in a sharing session during the forum on the development of Young Chefs Club in Hong Kong. The 2016 World Association of Chefs Societies will be held in Greece in September, Hospitality will be again sending a few students representatives to learn from the leading experts of the industry.


    One-term Exchange Programme to Sydney, Australia -
    Students from Higher Diploma in International Hospitality Management and Hotel & Catering Management were awarded an exchange scholarship from the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS) in Sydney, Australia. The lucky students attended the Bachelor Programme of Hotel Resort Management at the BMIHMS for one academic term from July to September, 2014 & 2015 & 2016.



    One-term Exchange Programme to Brisbane, Australia - Student from Higher Diploma in Tourism and MICE was awarded International Exchange Scholarship for one academic term at TAFE Queensland and attended travel and tourism programmes from July to September, 2015-2017.


    Exchange Programme to Tokyo, Japan with JTB Travel & Hotel College in 2013-2017 –
    Students from Higher Diploma in Tourism & MICE Management attended an exchange programme at the JTB Travel & Hotel College. They visited major tourism attractions and a Japanese agency to learn more about tourism operations in Japan.

    Exchange Programme to Singapore in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016 -
    Students from Higher Diploma in Tourism & MICE, Leisure Management as well as International Hospitality Management joined exchange programmes to the Institute of Technical Education (ITE), Singapore.





    Student from Higher Diploma in Airport Operations Management visited Shanghai with Zhejiang YuYing College of Vocational Technology. They also visited international airports in Shanghai and Hangzhou.
    Exchange Programme to London, UK with Hackney College during Paralympics in Sept 2012 -
    Students from Higher Diploma in International Hospitality Management and Higher Diploma in Hotel & Catering attended training session delivered by the trainers of the London 2012 Olympics Volunteers’ Programme at Hackney College as well as Fifteen London, a training restaurant owned by a celebrity chef, Jamie Oliver.


    Exchange visit to Hainan and Qingdao, China in 2013 - Students from Higher Diploma in International Hospitality Management joined an exchange programme at the College of Tourism of Hainan University in March and Sanya Tourism College of Qingdao University in June 2013 respectively. Students also visited some hotels, resorts and recreation clubs in these two destinations.

    Exchange visit to Guangzhou, China in 2012 -
    Students from Higher Diploma in International Hospitality Management joined exchange programme to Guangzhou Kangda Vocational Technical College and visited Dragon Lake Princess Hotel in June 2012

    HATA Industry Conference 2011 in Hainan -
    Students and lecturer from Higher Diploma in Travel and Tourism Management attended the 39th HATA Annual Overseas Conventions 2011 in Haikou and Sanya, Hainan
