    Technician (Automotive Engineering)
    Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi)

    Major Duties:
    (a) To perform installation, operation, repair and maintenance of the equipment, laboratory kits, tools and facilities in laboratories, workshops, practice areas and any other training locations as required;
    (b) To provide technical support and assist in demonstration for teaching and learning activities, including workshops / laboratories / practical training sessions / webinars / live streaming and online meetings;
    (c) To assist in troubleshooting, acquisition, installation and inventory management of all equipment, hardware and software;
    (d) To assist in the procurement and control of software licenses, consumables and equipment; and
    (e) To maintain the safety and tidiness of the laboratories / workshops.
       
    Requirements:
    (a) A recognised diploma or higher certificate in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;
    (b) At least 2 years of relevant work experience;
    (c) Good proficiency in both English and Chinese;
    (d) Good communication and problem-solving skills;
    (e) Mature, independent, self-motivated and able to work in a team; and
    (f) Experience / knowledge / skills in one or more of the following area(s) would have an advantage:
      (i) Automotive vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and repair, including engine, transmission, braking and suspension systems;
      (ii) Electrical and electronic systems in vehicles, including sensors, actuators, CAN bus communication and automotive diagnostic tools;
      (iii) New Energy Vehicle (NEV) technologies, including battery systems, electric motors, inverters, and high-voltage safety procedures;
      (iv) Operation and maintenance of automotive workshop equipment, such as vehicle lifts, wheel alignment machines, diagnostic scanners and testing instruments; and
      (v) Use of automotive diagnostic software and equipment (e.g. OBD scanners, oscilloscopes, multimeters and manufacturer diagnostic tools).
       
    Notes:
    (1) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
    (2) Shortlisted candidates may be required to attend a trade test.
    (3) Candidates should specify their related skills and knowledge of equipment / software and related work experience in the CVs.
    (4) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and in designated places as assigned.
