    Senior Assistant Executive Director

    Established in 1982, the Vocational Training Council (VTC) is a statutory body and the largest vocational and professional education and training (VPET) provider in Hong Kong. Through its 14 member institutions, the VTC provides valuable credentials for over 200,000 students across its 14 member institutions each year through a full range of pre-employment and in-service programmes with internationally recognized qualifications.
     
    The Council is looking for suitable candidates with right calibre and experience for the following two positions at the rank of Senior Assistant Executive Director:-
     
    Post 1 – Academic Director (Engineering)
     
    Major Responsibilities:
    (a) To act as Academic Director of Engineering Discipline to lead and steer the strategic development for the provision of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) programmes and services under the Discipline, including formulating manpower establishments, and optimising operational efficiency to meet the evolving industrial landscape;
    (b) To establish and cultivate partnerships with industries, Government bureaux/departments and professional bodies in local, the Chinese Mainland, and/or international/regional contexts to drive the development of vocational progression pathways and new sectoral training;
    (c) To enhance the Discipline students’ learning opportunities, articulation pathway and job placement, while overseeing quality assurance (QA) processes (including accreditation exercises) and strengthening professional qualifications and recognitions of the programme awards;
    (d) To oversee the planning, development, and commissioning of new infrastructures and facilities to enhance students’ learning experience;
    (e) To concurrently act as a Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) Campus Principal to lead and oversee the campus overall operations, including programmes operation, campus events, resources utilisation, staff developments, etc.; and
    (f) To foster and develop effective and supportive relationships with external stakeholders including local community, and to formulate and implement strategies and plans to promote the offering programmes/services and brand name of the Discipline/campus.
       
       
    Post 2 – Academic Director (Information Technology)
       
    Major Responsibilities:
    (a) To act as Academic Director of Information Technology Discipline to lead and steer the strategic development for the provision of Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) programmes and services under the Discipline, including formulating manpower establishments, and optimising operational efficiency to meet the evolving industrial landscape;
    (b) To establish and cultivate partnerships with industries, Government bureaux/departments and professional bodies in local, the Chinese Mainland, and/or international/regional contexts to drive the development of vocational progression pathways and new sectoral training;
    (c) To enhance the Discipline students’ learning opportunities, articulation pathway and job placement, while overseeing quality assurance (QA) processes (including accreditation exercises) and strengthening professional qualifications and recognitions of the programme awards;
    (d) To oversee the planning, development, and commissioning of new infrastructures and facilities to enhance students’ learning experience;
    (e) To concurrently act as Campus Principal of Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology (HKIIT) to lead and oversee the campus overall operations, including programmes operation, exhibitions and events, resources utilization, staff developments, etc.; and
    (f) To foster and develop effective and supportive relationships with external stakeholders including local community, and to formulate and implement strategies and plans to promote the offering programmes/services and brand name of HKIIT.
       
    Both post holders will also be tasked by the senior management team of the Council to assist in formulating and implementing Council's strategic initiatives and annual plans of programmes and activities.
     
    Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:
    Applicants should possess:
    (a) substantial managerial experience at a senior level and be well qualified academically and professionally;
    (b) a recognised degree or equivalent, preferably with postgraduate and professional qualifications, and good academic / professional standing in the relevant discipline;
    (c) strong leadership qualities and proven extensive job exposure in the career path;
    (d) proven experience in building rapport with trade, industry as well as professional bodies;
    (e) sensitivity to economic trends and business environment and ability to initiate and manage change;
    (f) good people and communication skills;
    (g) excellent command of English and Chinese languages, including Putonghua; and
    (h) good understanding of the post-secondary education sector in Hong Kong, and solid knowledge and experience in vocational and professional education and training are preferred.
