The Hong Kong Institute of Vocational
Education (IVE) was established by
merging the two former Technical
Colleges and seven former Technical
Institutes under the VTC, heralding a
new era of vocational education for
young people.

The Chinese Cuisine Training Institute
(CCTI), one of the Government’s
Capital Millennium Projects, was
opened to offer formal systematic
training in Chinese culinary arts.

The VTC set up technical colleges in
Tsing Yi and Chai Wan, to take on
Higher Diploma courses transferred
from the former Polytechnics, marking
a new chapter that expanded the
