Part 4 78 VOCATIONAL TRAINING COUNCIL GUANGZHOU / HONG KONG / MACAO / CHENGDU YOUTH SKILLS COMPETITION 4.50 The Guangzhou / Hong Kong / Macao / Chengdu Youth Skills Competition (GHMCYSC) is a large-scale inter-city youth skills competition for young tradesmen of the four cities to compete in a number of trades. GHMCYSC is jointly organised by the four cities biennially on a rotation basis. The competition serves as a platform for young tradesmen to showcase their talents, enjoy free exchange of trade knowledge and the latest developments in VPET, and develop problem-solving skills and creative thinking. 4.51 The 12th GHMCYSC was held in Guangzhou in late November 2023. Competitors from Hong Kong participated in five skills competitions, namely Cyber Security, Fashion Technology, Mobile Applications Development, Mobile Robotics and Visual Merchandising. Hong Kong also showcased Beauty Therapy and Restaurant Service as demonstration activities during the event. HONG KONG JUNIOR SKILLS COMPETITION 4.52 The Hong Kong Junior Skills Competition (HKJSC) is a skills event introduced in 2022, which is held biennially to introduce skills and WorldSkills Competition to secondary school students. With the support from the EDB, it is jointly organised by VTC, CITA and CIC. Various skills areas are introduced to secondary schools. 4.53 The next HKJSC is scheduled for the second quarter of 2024. The HKJSC would be open for application and promotion in the fourth quarter of 2023.
