Certificate in Electrical Engineering [Course Code: 75501]

Graduates will mainly take up positions as technicians, technical officers or work supervisors in the trade of electrical engineering and electrical installation. Employment opportunities can be obtained from building services consultants, contractors, power supply companies, MTRC, KCRC, utility companies or the Government. Graduates will be recognized to have satisfied the academic requirements by EMSD and with appropriate working experience may apply as a Grade B registered electrical worker.

Craft Certificate for Electricians [Course Code: 75787]

Graduates will mainly be employed as electricians, technical assistants in the trade of electrical engineering and electrical installation. Employment opportunities can be obtained from building services consultants, contractors, utility companies such as the power supply companies, MTRC, KCRC or the Government. Graduates will be recognized to have satisfied the academic requirements by EMSD and with appropriate working experience may apply as a Grade A registered electrical worker.

Higher Diploma in Building Services Engineering [Course Code: 91302]

Graduate will have the necessary knowledge and skills to work in various areas of infrastructure development and building projects from building services installation to facility management. They may be employed by building services consultants and contractors, property development and facility management companies, utility companies, the Government, main contractor and materials suppliers. They are normally employed as associate /assistant engineers, technicians, supervisors, technical officers, safety officers and computer aided draftsmen. The Higher Diploma in Building Services Engineering (Facility Management) also aims at preparing students for external registration or industrial endorsement of professional qualifications at workplaces or trade license, such as Green Card, Safety Supervisor, and REW B etc. The equally important aim is to develop students' abilities to think clearly, assess problems critically, view work creatively and innovatively and to communicate effectively when working independently or as members of a team.

Graduates may be employed by building services consultants and contractors, property development and management companies, utility companies, the Government, main contractors and equipment suppliers. Graduates are recognized to have satisfied the academic requirements of the EMSD Electricity (Registration) Regulations for the purpose of registration as a Grade B electrical worker.

Certificate in Mechanical Engineering [Course code: 93501,95501]
Graduates may be employed as technicians, computer-aided draftsmen, assistant engineers, technical officers, supervisors or engineering assistants in the field of mechanical engineering by consultants, contractors, utility companies or the Government.

Certificate in Building Services Engineering [Course code: 93502, 95502]
Graduates may be employed as draftsmen or technicians in the building services and construction industry. Employment opportunities can be found with building services consultants, contractors, property management companies, utility companies or the Government. Graduates are recognized to have satisfied the academic requirements of the EMSD Electricity (Registration) Regulations for the purpose of registration as a Grade B electrical worker.

Craft Certificate in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration [Course code: 93703, 95703]
Graduates may be employed as Air Conditioning and Refrigeration craftsmen, technical assistants or salesmen. Graduates will also be recognized to have satisfied the requirements of the EMSD Electricity (Registration) Regulations for the purpose of registration as a Grade R electrical worker (who has to fulfill the requirement of electrical work experience).

Craft Certificate in Building Services Engineering will also be recognized to have satisfied the academic requirement of the EMSD Electricity (Registration) Regulations for the purpose of registration as a Grade A electrical worker (have to fulfill the requirement of electrical work experience).

Further Studies Opportunities

Higher Diploma graduates can apply for full-time and part-time related professional degree courses in local or overseas universities. Diploma graduates are qualified to further their studies at Higher Diploma or Degree level in local or overseas institutions / universities. Most part-time graduates of certificate courses will be able to progress to a Higher Certificate Course and then to a Higher Diploma Course. Graduates may also achieve professional status with appropriate bodies after gaining the professional experience and academic qualifications required.

Craft course graduates are qualified to further their studies at technician level by taking appropriate bridging courses available to them.
