|
Major Duties: |
|
(a) |
To administer and develop Library’s information systems and applications including Library Automated System (e.g. Alma), Discovery Service (e.g. Primo), Access Management System, eLibrary services, such as examination database, eVideo Portals, Remote Authentication Tools (e.g. OCLC EZproxy); |
|
(b) |
To manage and develop Library digital platforms and online services, and facilitate access to electronic resources and digital services; |
|
(c) |
To design, develop and maintain application programs, database systems and workflow automation solutions supporting Library services; |
|
(d) |
To manage and support Library technology infrastructure and client devices, including Windows and macOS workstations, public access computers, iPads and other mobile devices, technology lending devices and related services; |
|
(e) |
To participate strongly in planning and implementing Library IT initiatives and in devising policies and procedures for IT provisions in VTC Library; |
|
(f) |
To explore, implement and promote new technologies, including generative AI, AI-assisted workflows, intelligent agents and automation solutions; and |
|
(g) |
To provide training, support and outreach on new technologies, systems and implementations for Library staff and users. |
|
|
|
Requirements: |
|
(a) |
(i) |
A recognised degree in IT or equivalent with at least 2 years’ relevant work experience; OR |
|
|
(ii) |
A recognised higher diploma in IT or equivalent with at least 5 years’ relevant work experience; |
|
(b) |
Practical knowledge of Library Automated System, eLibrary systems or similar systems; |
|
(c) |
Candidate with experience / knowledge in ANY of the following area(s) will have an advantage: |
|
|
(i) |
Development: Java, PHP, Mobile Application Development; |
|
|
(ii) |
Data & Infrastructure: MySQL, Firewall, VPN; |
|
|
(iii) |
Server maintenance: Linux / Unix operating systems; |
|
|
(iv) |
Client Device Management: Client Device Deployment and Management, Windows, macOS, iPadOS and Mobile Device Administration; |
|
|
(v) |
Emerging Technologies: Generative AI, AI-assisted Workflows, Intelligent Agents and Workflow Automation; |
|
(d) |
Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with library staff, IT teams, vendors and other stakeholders in implementing and supporting technology-enabled services; and |
|
(e) |
Proficiency in English and Chinese. |

Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply. |

Appointees may be required to work irregular hours / outside normal office hours and / or at different work locations on a need basis. |
