    Term Assistant Lecturer
    Hong Kong Design Institute

    Major Duties:
    (a) To prepare proposals and implement related design events, exhibitions and activities demonstrating experimental business solutions with a focus on retail technology and digitalisation, database driven business and updated branding strategies related to IP and fashion merchandise or design related activities;
    (b) To prepare funding proposals for applied design-research / industry collaborative projects and student-focused activities;
    (c) To support marketing and event management for the Retail Lab and coordinate HKDI Atelier projects and activities, including but not limited to research studies, publications, seminars, workshops and exhibitions;
    (d) To perform teaching duties and assist in supervision of students’ projects and fieldwork, placement;
    (e) To assist in carrying out duties in relation to student and academic administration;
    (f) To assist in developing programme curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment materials including feasibility study and syllabus writing;
    (g) To participate in departmental projects and functions, including but not limited to consultancy services, research studies, seminars and exhibitions; and
    (h) To work closely with HKDI Atelier on special projects.
     
    Requirements:
    (a) A recognised degree in visual merchandising, retail management, supply chain management, marketing, or equivalent professional qualification, preferably with a post-graduate qualification;
    (b) Proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and After Effects;
    (c) Solid experience in managing social media platforms;
    (d) Ability to work independently and also as a team member with good communication and interpersonal skills;
    (e) Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, preferably including proficiency in Putonghua;
    (f) Preferably with relevant experience in IP / inventory control / visual merchandising / e-shop / retail marketing and / or research experience;
    (g) Experience with AI tools would be an advantage; and
    (h) Records of linkages with the design industry or professional design bodies would be an advantage.
     
    Notes:
    (1) The post is at the rank of “Teaching Associate”.
    (2) Applicants with substantial experience and achievements in the relevant field but without the required academic / professional qualifications OR those with exceptional academic / professional qualifications but with less experience may also apply.
    (3) Shortlisted candidate will be required to take a written assessment.
    (4) Appointees may be required to work irregular hours / outside normal office hours and / or at different work locations on a need basis.
