    Senior Instructor (Pet Care and Wellness)
    Health and Life Sciences Discipline

    Major Duties:
    (a)
     
    To perform teaching duties, including student assessment, operating and maintaining training facilities and equipment to support teaching and learning; 
    (b) To conduct classes and practical training for students involving live pets and exotic animals;
    (c)

     
    To supervise students’ projects, plan and execution of students outside practical activities and coordinate staff in performing teaching duties, operating and maintaining training facilities, conducting trade test, and carrying out relevant support duties;
    (d) To develop and review syllabi and teaching and learning packages;
    (e)
     
    To carry out student and academic related administration duties including student admission and records, job placement and other student activities;
    (f) To assist in staff recruitment, budgeting, fund control and acquisition of equipment and materials for the workshops;
    (g) To implement quality assurance policies including health and safety procedures for training activities; and
    (h) To maintain and enhance networks with the industry and related associations.
       
    Requirements:
    (a) A recognised relevant Higher Diploma or equivalent; 
    (b)

     
    Qualification of Qualified Veterinary Nurse with Certificate IV issued by the Animal Industries Resource Centre (AIRC) of Australia or Registered Veterinary Nurse under the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) of United Kingdom (UK);
    (c)
     
    At least 6 years’ work and / or teaching experience at supervisory level in veterinary nursing, pet care and wellness industry;
    (d) Proficiency in English and Chinese, preferably including Putonghua;
    (e) Good communication and interpersonal skills, and administrative abilities; and
    (f) The ability to pass a trade test.
       
    Notes:
    (1)

     
    Candidates without the required academic qualifications stated in the Requirements (a) but possessing 12 years’ experience in the relevant industry and / or teaching may also apply.  Where applicable, these candidates may be required to have a Qualifications Framework (QF) Level 3 qualification. 
    (2)
     
    The initial posting is in IVE (Chai Wan). The appointee(s) may be posted to other work location(s) to suit the operational needs.
    (3) The appointee(s) may be required to perform duties outside normal office hours and/or outside campus.
