81 The VTC cultivates a vibrant and dynamic learning atmosphere that inspires students to broaden their horizons beyond the classroom. In the 2024/25 academic year, more than 3,700 students participated in a wide range of outbound programmes, including student exchanges, semester-based study programmes, and industrial attachments, across the Mainland and Overseas destinations such as Austria, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Switzerland, Spain, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. Through these immersive experiences, students gained valuable global exposure and essential skills that equip them for success in today’s interconnected world. To deepen students’ understanding of the latest developments and opportunities in the GuangdongHong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA), the VTC launched a series of study programmes called “GBA Explorer Trip” in 2023. To date, about 120 GBA Explorer Trips were organised, attracting some 4,000 participants. These activities not only broaden students’ perspectives on the social and economic development of the Mainland, but also allow them to experience local culture and inspire their career aspirations in the GBA. To encourage students to pursue knowledge, innovation, entrepreneurship, and various forms of collaboration, VTC and Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SZPU) jointly established the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Student Exchange Alliance” in 2020. Since its inception, the Alliance has organised a variety of activities. In 2023, VTC and SZPU co-hosted the first “Greater Bay Area International Youth Skills Competition”. Students from five institutions across Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhongshan, and Singapore competed in various categories. The second edition of the Competition was held in November 2025, with the number of participating institutions increasing to eight. The event also featured a Vocational and Professional Education and Training (VPET) seminar, themed “AI Trends & Applications: Shaping the Future of Careers with the New Generation” focusing on key topics such as the development trends and practical applications of AI in vocational education. Beyond promoting learning through competition, this initiative introduced new ideas for innovation in VPET. 泰國主廚與酒店及旅遊學科的學生和導師分享實務經驗 Thai chef sharing hands-on experience with students and instructors from the Hospitality Discipline Furthermore, the VTC in partnership with the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) of Singapore organised the biennial exchange event VTC-ITE International Student Seminar 2024 in Hong Kong. The three-day Seminar under the theme of “ISS Youth Change Makers” brought together over 600 young people from Singapore, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Through engaging activities such as student project exhibition and education programme, the Seminar fostered international perspectives and explored how VPET, coupled with design thinking, can empower young people to create innovative solutions for social challenges. In June 2026, the VTC and ITE will co-organise the “ITE-VTC International Student Seminar 2026” in Singapore, themed “Elevating Youth Engagement in a Changing World”, providing students with an international platform to exchange views on global issues and broaden their global perspectives. To broaden students’ learning experiences, VTC invited distinguished scholars and professionals from a wide range of fields across the Mainland, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Mexico during the 2024/25 academic year. These experts delivered keynote lectures and interactive workshops, providing students and staff with valuable insights into emerging industry trends, advanced technical knowledge, and diverse professional perspectives.
