D ENMARK ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN STUDY TRIP TO DENMARK Kenny Tsang, a Higher Diploma in Architectural Design student, has benefitted greatly from his exchange and learning trip to Denmark. Reeling off his experiences, he said: “Bagsværd Church, designed by the Sydney Opera House architect Jørn Utzon, looks like a factory from outside. The interior features an oval design for light reflection to evoke a somber yet warm ambience. During my visit to Aarhus University, I came across a lot of building materials I had never seen before, which prompted me to think about how I could use them in design work. There were also a bank building built of a pile of rocks and a subterranean art exhibition, called “The Water”, inside a former reservoir. In design, it is necessary to think out of the box, where we can adopt multiple mindsets to transcend boundaries and fuel our creative thinking!” 丹麥建築設計考察 修讀建築設計高級文憑的曾耀宏，從丹麥交流學 習之旅中獲益良多。耀宏如數家珍地分享他的所 見所聞：「悉尼歌劇院建築師 Jørn Utzon 設計的 Bagsværd 教堂，外觀像工廠，室內則利用弧形設 計反射光線，帶出肅穆而溫暖的氣氛；到訪 Aarhus University，接觸到很多從未見過的建築 物料，刺激我思考如何選料去配合設計；還有用 石頭砌成的銀行；以及在已廢棄的地下水庫 內舉行，名為『The Water』的藝術展覽等。設 計就是要think out of the box，以不斷改變思維 的方式，超越界限，推動創新意念！」 VTC Student Development Foundation was established in 2012 to launch and support various educational programmes through donations raised, with the objective of nurturing student excellence. These initiatives include conducting whole-person development programmes locally and abroad, setting up scholarships, providing financial assistance for students and developing quality education. To help students broaden their horizons and learn cultural diversity, the Foundation has, to date, supported the participation of more than 9,000 students in over 400 overseas exchange programmes.
