SELF-DISCOVERY 新天地 “Prior to joining the Speak for Success Programme, I never thought I would join a public speaking contest, much less become an event host.” Dorothy Ngai, a Higher Diploma student in Public Relations and Digital Communication, found the Speak for Success workshops helped her not only learn practical skills in communication and self-expression, but also discover her talent in this area. “I guess the instructors saw how I fared in the workshop before encouraging me to join a speech contest of Hong Kong Youth Cultural and Arts Competitions. Participating in this large-scale competition made me anxious and my mind went blank on stage. Fortunately, I applied the ‘self-dialogue’ skills to remain calm and completed the contest successfully. When I came in fourth, I felt uplifted and encouraged.” Dorothy was subsequently invited to host a variety of events. “These opportunities enabled me to discover my interest towards public speaking and event hosting. I will strive for more such experiences, in the belief that regardless of my future work roles, these experiences will be an enormous asset for me.” 「參加說出成功路計劃前，我沒想過自己會參加演講比賽，更談不上擔任司儀。」 修讀公關及數碼傳訊高級文憑課程的魏楚告，想不到說出成功路計劃的工作坊不僅令她學到實用的溝 通和表達技巧，還發掘了她的才能。「我想是導師留意到我在工作坊的表現，鼓勵我參加全港青年 演講比賽。參加這麼大型的比賽，心情十分緊張，在台上腦海突然一片空白，幸好我立即應用『自 我對話』的技巧，令自己保持冷靜，順利完成比賽，結果第一次參賽便獲得第四名，令我非常鼓舞。」 楚告隨後更獲邀擔任各式活動的司儀，「這些機會讓我發現自己對演講和擔任司儀的興趣，我會爭取 更多比賽和司儀經驗，相信無論將來從事什麼工作，這些經驗對我都有莫大幫助呢！」
