Skilling for the Future (2020 Update)

Multi-disciplinary Innovations and Project-based Learning The current and future world of work will increasingly demand cross-disciplinary, collaborative, and complex problem-solving skills to deliver creative solutions. To meet evolving human resource needs, the VTC is driving new inter-disciplinary initiatives in the form of new programmes and collaborative projects. These include, for example, the launch of new programmes in Fintech, public relations and digital communication to nurture a new breed of talent with multi-disciplinary knowledge and skill sets for the global workforce of today and tomorrow. HKDI Centre of Innovative Material and Technology (CIMT) facilitates inter-disciplinary design activities and knowledge exchange. In 2018, two projects led by CIMT, namely “Innovative Foot Biomechanics for Enhancing Design and Comfort of Ladies’ High-heeled Footwear Design” and “3D Heat Conductive Knee Sleeve”, were awarded a Gold Medal and a Silver Medal respectively in the “Clothing-Textiles-Machines and Accessories” category at the 46th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva held in Switzerland. 66
