Skilling for the Future (2020 Update)

To develop quality manpower and enable a competitive edge for industries, the VTC is dedicated to forging mutually beneficial partnerships with industries. Industry support takes the form of input on course planning, curriculum design, and quality assurance as well as scholarship sponsorships, opportunities for industry attachment and job placements. Industry representation in the Training Boards (see Appendix for the complete list), and other advisory groups ensures the relevance and quality of VTC programmes in meeting the ever- changing needs of the economy. Manpower Surveys With memberships comprising stakeholders in nearly all major economic sectors in Hong Kong, the 25 VTC Training Boards provide a useful and effective communication platform for identifying and addressing issues related to manpower development, as well as VPET in Hong Kong. The Training Boards conduct manpower surveys regularly to collect up-to-date information on the manpower situation, to forecast the manpower growth and to figure out measures to satisfy the manpower demand of respective industries. The VTC also uses the data from manpower surveys to plan and deliver relevant VPET programmes that address corresponding training needs. Manpower survey information of different industries is also made available online for easy access. Engaging with the World of Work Scan the code to view Manpower Surveys: 42
