VTC Earn & Learn Scheme To facilitate the successful school-to-work transition of students, the VTC launched the Earn & Learn Scheme for secondary school leavers (i.e. targeting those aged 16 to 17) in 2014 through collaboration with the government and industry. The Scheme integrates structured vocational education and on-the-job training with clear progression pathways. Since its launch, the Scheme has already covered a wide spectrum of industries and trades. During the training period, the apprentice is eligible for an incentive allowance and a government subsidy in addition to their basic salary. On completion of the Scheme, the apprentice can remain in employment and receive a monthly salary while obtaining a recognised qualification. They can also choose to further their studies and pursue higher qualifications. With positive feedback, the Scheme has been further extended up to the Degree level.
