Skilling for the Future (2020 Update)

In addition to industry-specific skills, the VTC’s holistic VPET programmes equip students with appropriate transferable skills, attitude, and values necessary in the local, national, and global context. The VTC provides students with the best support and diverse learning opportunities, and encourages them to explore a wide range of activities including internships, joint projects and international events. VTC students are able to hone their soft and hard skills by participating in large-scale competitions and international events such as the VPET International Conference, International STEM Students’ Forum and VTC - Institute of Technical Education (ITE) International Student Seminar, as well as through conducting collaborative projects with international fellows. At the International STEM Students’ Forum 2020, young STEM talent from the VTC and Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education jointly presented their collaborative project on a new Internet-of-Things system to monitor real-time tree conditions and minimise risks. The project aims to build a safe and sustainable green environment for all through innovation and technology applications. 102
