The Applied Science Discipline provides professional and timely education and training in response to these new horizons, which includes the areas of Health Studies, Rehabilitation Services, Medical Centre Operations, Applied Nutritional Studies, Vision Health Care, Biomedical Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Dispensing Studies, Biotechnology, Food Technology and Safety, Analytical Science, Chemical Technology, Beauty and Personal Care Products, Environmental Science, Environmental Protection and Management, Conservation and Tree Management, Occupational Safety and so on.

Applied Science discipline continuously enhance the quality of the programmes to address the huge manpower needs in various areas of applied science and stay updated amongst the industry. Business

Hong Kong prepares to develop as a world class smart city with continuous city innovation and sustainable economic development. To align with this latest development, Business Discipline aims in nurturing talents with multifaceted skills, creativity and innovative mindsets in response to the manpower needs of various business sectors.

The Discipline offers a wide spectrum of programmes addressing the challenges created by new business opportunities.  Module syllabi are enhanced with concepts in technology applications, and integrated with Artificial Intelligence (A), Blockchain (B), Cloud Computing (C), Data Analytics (D) and Experience (E) under business operations. Practical and student-centred curriculum, embedded with Project-based Learning and Work-integrated Learning, is adopted in order to develop students’ 21st century competencies for further study and career development.  The Discipline also works closely with industry partners to provide valuable learning opportunities to students, such as organizing professional seminars, study visits and overseas exchange programmes, so as to broaden students’ horizons.

Childcare, Elderly and Community Services

Child and inclusive education, elderly care, social design and innovation and social work have been one of the most sought-after disciplines in recent years. Childcare, Elderly and Community Services Discipline provides quality vocational and professional education and training, recognised by the Government and professional bodies. Through fieldwork placement, local and overseas study tours, professional exchanges, service projects and volunteer services, students are equipped and empowered with the professional knowledge, skills, and attitudes to enhance their employability in the field.

Engineering

Engineering professionals are in high demand with the advent of the variety of large-scale infrastructure and residential smart city projects to cope with development needs of society.

The Engineering Discipline covers a wide spectrum of studies including construction, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical and building services engineering, and transportation. Supported by its strong industry network, state-of-the-art facilities, and highly qualified teaching team, the Discipline provides quality and professionally-oriented engineering programmes to secondary school leavers and industry practitioners. Apart from technical knowledge, the Discipline has always stressed the importance of practical experience. Through simulated workplace environments and work attachments, students could equip themselves with professional knowledge and skills that they will need for career development.

Hospitality

Hospitality :
While the hospitality and tourism industry is one of the major pillars of the Hong Kong economy; whereas sports and recreation is an important social fabric of any community and an integral part of everyday life.  Being Asia’s World City, the level of professionalism and service standards required by the industry is constantly evolving in Hong Kong.  IVE Hospitality Discipline offers industry relevant programmes in three major areas: Hotel and Catering, Tourism and MICE, as well as Leisure and Sports, which are supported by excellent facilities and well-balanced curricula. With a practical approach to teaching and learning, students are required to undertake industrial attachment to gain real life work experience in their relevant studies.  After graduation, students can pursue further studies or have a head start in their chosen career field.

International Cuisine / Chinese Cuisine :
The Chinese Culinary Institute (CCI) and International Culinary Institute (ICI) provide vocational and professional education and training in Chinese and international culinary arts, wine and event management to strengthen Hong Kong’s reputation as Asia’s wine-and-dine destination. CCI endeavours to provide systematic training in Chinese cuisine for youngsters to obtain their professional qualifications and elevate the professional standard and status of Chinese chefs. ICI offers a wide range of quality, professional culinary programmes as well as wine and international theme park and event management programmes to groom aspiring youths for career development in the related industries.

Information Technology

Information technology (IT) is shaping the future and IT professionals have many opportunities in the era of digital smart cities of the 21st century. IT is integrated with all the activities of daily life and work. IT is widely used to support many industries in the commercial, private and public sectors, creating a strong demand for skilled professionals.

In order to provide learners the latest knowledge and skills required for this rapidly changing career environment, a comprehensive suite of IT programmes has been designed by IT Discipline, covering the areas of information and communications technology (ICT) and multimedia and entertainment technology (MET). ICT programmes enable learners to develop and administer various IT and innovative and creative business applications and solution platforms, as well as computer servers, communication networks, big data, data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and smart technologies, whereas MET programmes equip them for creative industries such as the computer graphics, multimedia, virtual reality, interactive technology, stage and live entertainment technology, computer games and animation, theme park and theatre creative technology.
