74 It is a shared responsibility of our staff and students to devote themselves to good corporate citizenship. The VTC received three awards from Social Welfare Department for volunteer services during the year, including the Highest Service Hour Merit Award (Public Organisations) with nearly 225,000 service hours contributed by 14,500 student and staff volunteers. VTC was also named first runner-up and second runner-up in the Best Student and Youth Volunteer Project Competition (Tertiary Education). In recognition of our endeavours in caring for the community, our employees and the environment, we were also commended as a ‘10 Year Plus Caring Organisation’ by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. Supporting Environmental Protection We have constantly been promoting environmental awareness and practices among our students and staff. For example, the ICI has adopted a hydroponic system for educational purposes. In addition, we launched the Kids’ Greenway: Biodiversity project under the Environment and Conservation Fund. With support from ten local green organisations, this two-year project is aimed at promoting green education and green lives among kindergarten teachers, students and parents. The VTC was also one of the co-organisers of the Hong Kong Green School Award. PROMOTING GOOD CORPORATE CITIZENSHIP 良好企業公民 VTC 員工及學生同心履行社會責任， 體現良好企業公民精神。 年內， VTC 的義工服務獲社會福利署 頒發三個獎項，其中 14,500 名學生 及員工參與近 22.5 萬小時義工服務， 獲得「最高服務時數獎（公眾團體）」 的嘉許；亦於「最佳學生及青年義工 計劃比賽」（大專組）榮獲亞軍及 季軍。 香港社會服務聯會亦嘉許 VTC 為「 10 年 Plus 同心展關懷」機構，表揚我們 對社區、僱員及環境的關懷。 提升環保意識 我們致力提升學生及員工的環保意 識，例如於 ICI 校舍設有水耕栽培系統 作教育用途。 此外，我們獲得環境及自然保育基金 撥款，推出為期兩年的「綠路童心── 生物多樣性」計劃，向幼稚園師生及 家長推廣環保教育及環保生活，並獲 十間本地環保團體支持。 VTC 亦是香 港綠色學校獎的協辦機構之一。
