VTC Annual Report 2017/2018
Extending Our International and Regional Footprint The strong regional and global network of collaborative alliances built by the VTC over the years continued to grow in 2017/18, extending our reach and expanding opportunities for students and staff. During the year, over 7,000 students were able to benefit from outbound exchanges, internships, study tours and field trips. Thanks to the support of our donors and industry partners, we have further developed our scholarship schemes and internship opportunities, including the Alistair Harvey Scholarships which sponsor sub-degree and degree students to further their studies in the United Kingdom. Some other examples include the Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships and the Yeung Kin-man Industrial Training Scheme which encourage our students to participate in outbound activities that can broaden their outlook, and participate in industry attachments on the Mainland to enrich their personal portfolios. We also organised many different programmes and activities to give VTC students exposure to international best practices through on-campus experiences. These included thematic conferences, master lecture series, cross-boundary competitions and cultural exchange activities such as the Red Dot Design Exhibition and Michelin chef demonstrations. 21
