職業訓練局年報 VTC Annual Report 2017/2018

Promoting Skills Excellence in Hong Kong and Beyond During the year, we continued our efforts to promote the value of VPET to the community and emphasise its vital role in helping Hong Kong maintain its competitive edge, by nurturing the next generation of smart talent. The year’s most prominent event for VPET and the skills sector in Hong Kong, the VPET International Conference, was held in conjunction with the WorldSkills Hong Kong Competition and Carnival 2017. The mega event attracted over 20,000 participants from over 20 countries and regions. We also hosted the International STEM Students’ Forum. This brought together tertiary students of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) disciplines from countries such as Australia, Finland, the United States and Japan, who collaborated with VTC students in conducting joint projects on various STEM topics and exchanging STEM-related knowledge and foresights. Our students also demonstrated their skills excellence at the 44th WorldSkills Competition held in October 2017 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Hong Kong team won a Bronze Prize in Beauty Therapy and Medallions for Excellence in seven other trades, while additionally benefiting from valuable exchanges with their peers from around the world. 推廣專業技能 年內，我們繼續向各界推廣職業專才教育 的價值，凸顯其維持香港競爭力、為新時 代培育智慧人才的重要性。 在 2017 年舉行的職業專才教育國際研討會 暨香港青年技能大賽與嘉年華，是本地職 專教育及技能界的矚目盛事，邀得本地及 來自 20 多個國家和地區的代表參與，吸引 超過 20,000 名人士到場。 我們亦舉辦國際 STEM 學生論壇，匯聚來 自澳洲、芬蘭、美國及日本等地，修讀科 學、科技、工程及數學學科的大專生，與 VTC 學生就不同的 STEM 主題合作研習， 深入交流。 2017 年 10 月，我們的學生代表香港出戰 在阿聯酋阿布扎比舉行的第 44 屆世界技 能大賽，在美容護理項目中勇奪銅牌，並 在另外七個項目中獲得優異獎章。學生藉 此機會與來自世界各地的年輕專才交流切 磋。 20
