14 Strong Foundation for the Future We continue to offer our students innovative and multiple pathways to success. A good example is the launch of the Vocational Baccalaureate programmes, which provide an alternative pathway for Secondary 3 leavers more suited to skill-based training. On the infrastructural side, the ICI in Pokfulam was opened in October 2018, and new campus for THEi in Chai Wan has also come into operation. New projects to nurture the high-calibre talent sought by local industries, such as the Aviation and Maritime Engineering Centre at IVE (Tsing Yi), and the future multi- disciplinary campus to be developed in the Cha Kwo Ling site earmarked by the Government are also on course to provide state-of-the-art facilities for the next generation. Dual-track in Action In 2014, with the support of Government and industry, we launched the VTC Earn & Learn Scheme, which gives students the opportunity of gaining work experience and a salary while pursuing a well- defined progression pathway for higher qualifications. I am pleased to report that in view of this pilot scheme’s positive results, the Government has endorsed its becoming a regular programme from the 2018/19 academic year. To further address Hong Kong’s higher- level skills shortages, we extend the Scheme to Degree level, enabling dual- track for all. We will also pilot the implementation of a new web-based workplace assessment platform in the hospitality and engineering programmes, which we consider essential to the successful integration of classroom learning and workplace experiences. 穩固基礎 開創未來 我們持續為學生提供創新靈活的進修途 徑，包括推出全新的職專國際課程，為適 合循技能路徑發展的中三離校生開闢新的 升學選擇。 在基建方面， ICI 薄扶林校舍於 2018 年 10 月正式開幕， THEi 柴灣新校舍亦已投入運 作。為培育更多業界專才，我們會繼續優 化校園設施，為未來做好準備，包括 IVE （青衣）的航空及航海工程中心；以及政府 預留茶果嶺土地，讓 VTC 發展多元學科的 校舍，栽培新一代專才。 全力推動 職學雙軌 在政府和業界的鼎力支持下，我們於 2014 年推出 VTC Earn & Learn 職學計劃， 為學員提供寶貴的有薪職場培訓機會， 開創專業前路。由於計劃的成效理想， 政府於 2018/19 學年將計劃恆常化。 為進一步回應業界對專才的迫切需求，我們 把職學計劃擴展至學位課程，透過延展雙軌 制模式，令各界受惠。此外，酒店及旅遊學 科與工程學科亦將試行全新的網上職場評核 平台，務求把課堂學習與職場培訓融匯結 合。
