15 Contents Message from Executive Director Sustainability Commitment Low-carbon Environment Education and Engagement Workforce Well-being and Development Awards and Recognitions Outlook Link Sustainability Lab Workshops & Exhibition CEU hosted a project exhibition and sustainability-themed workshops at the Link Sustainability Lab, featuring upcycled crafts, renewable energy demonstrations by Design and Engineering students from THEi, Youth College, Youth College (International) and Shine Skills Centre. The event highlighted students’ technical and creative talents while promoting environmental awareness within the community. ECF Local Delicacy – Your Health Your Wealth! Led by THEi Department of Food and Health Sciences, this 22-month ECF-funded initiative promotes sustainable food practices by encouraging the use of local ingredients, food scrap repurposing and waste recycling, with workshops and talks engaging secondary students to raise awareness and foster community action toward carbon neutrality. “FUN Sharing Happiness” Project IVE Hospitality students received the Student Group Outstanding Award under the Sham Shui Po Volunteer Service Project organised by the Social Welfare Department. This award-winning project aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles among the elderly and children through nutritious snack-making workshops and wellness visits to a local elderly centre. COLLABORATION AND EXCHANGE Sustainable Fabric Wall at Link Sustainability Lab designed by THEi Fashion Design students Environmental teaching kits and picture book demonstrated by students of the Childcare, Elderly and Community Services programmes at IVE (Sha Tin) Chinese Herbal Attractions at Ocean Park Hong Kong (OPHK) THEi Chinese Medicinal Pharmacy programme partnered with OPHK and the Chinese Medicine Development Fund to create two Chinese herbal attractions: “Whisker’s Herbal Valley” and “Eco-Herbal Trail”. These attractions showcase Chinese Medicine culture, health benefits and sustainable landscaping while connecting industry, education and the community. Web and Game-based Training The Innovation and Technology Co-creation Centre (ITCC) partnered with industry leaders including Cathay Pacific, CLP and PADEL+ on multidisciplinary student projects. These projects digitalised training content into web and game-based applications, fostering sustainable innovation through student-industry collaboration. Cargo Warehouse Safety An interactive game for Cathay warehouse staff that teaches hazard awareness through timed challenges VTC Carbon Neutrality Forum 2024 The VTC held its inaugural forum themed “Carbon Neutrality – The Way Forward,” officiated by Dr LAM Ching-choi, GBS, JP, Chairman of the Council for Carbon Neutrality and Sustainable Development. Over 700 participants from business, industry and academia joined to explore lowcarbon solutions, facilitating cross-sector exchange and action on carbon neutrality.
