13 Contents Message from Executive Director Sustainability Commitment Low-carbon Environment Education and Engagement Workforce Well-being and Development Awards and Recognitions Outlook VTC Student Environmental Ambassador Programme In collaboration with the Business Environment Council, the programme engaged over 140 students from Youth College, IVE and THEi for a series of immersive sustainability training activities. It aimed to deepen environmental knowledge, foster stewardship and empower students to champion sustainable development across campuses. CAMPAIGNS AND ACTIVITIES VTC–ITE International Student Seminar 2024 In partnership with ITE Singapore, the three-day seminar themed “ISS Youth Change Makers” gathered over 600 participants from Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Singapore. The event inspired youth to explore multidisciplinary approaches to sustainability and social innovation. VTC Smart City and STEAM Challenge Cup 2025 The competition, themed “Smart Mobility: Driving Towards Sustainable Future”, was organised by the Smart City Innovation Centre with support from Citybus. Students were challenged to develop innovative STEAM-based solutions for Hong Kong’s transportation system, fostering their sustainable thinking. Students built hydrogen bus models during the “The Future is Hydrogen” workshop. VTC's First Sustainability Awards Scheme To champion and accelerate sustainable progress across our sites, the VTC launched its inaugural Sustainability Awards Scheme in AY2023/24. The awards aim to promote sustainable practices across all 38 VTC sites by recognising and rewarding those that demonstrate remarkable progress in reducing electricity, water and paper consumption compared to the previous year. The awards were presented by Mr TSE Chin-wan, BBS, JP, Secretary for Environment and Ecology, to representatives of the winning sites in recognition of their exemplary performance.
