Food Waste Movement 2022 – Entrepreneurial Project Proposal Competition by Hong Kong Community and Construction Association 2nd Runner-up A business proposal devised by a research team from the Department of Hospitality and Business Management, THEi for developing pet snacks from food by-products. Environmental Promotion Red Dot Design Award Red Dot Award: Design Concept 2023 Showcase by the Centre for Communication Design challenges audiences about the environmental impact of packaging design. The 2nd Rotary Carbon Reduction Video Competition by Preserve Planet Earth Committee of the Rotary International District 3450 Merit Award A video produced by YC (Tin Shui Wai) students raises awareness of plastic waste and promotes alternatives to plastic products. Awarded project showcase “To buy or not to buy: What are the questions?” Open Data Hackathon 2023 by Hong Kong Technology Advancement Group 1st Runner-up & Best Innovation Award An app developed by Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology students, leverages open data to promote walkability and sustainable mobility in Hong Kong. Solar Future Challenge 2024 by Jockey Club SolarCare Programme 1st Runner-up (Solar Supreme Group) & Best Creativity Award A device invented by YCI Diploma of Vocational Baccalaureate (DVB) (Engineering) students uses solar energy to tackle water scarcity while integrating aqua-ecosystem and environmental data measurement. CLP Power Low-carbon Energy-saving Invention Competition 1st Runner-up A winning design by a YCI DVB (Engineering) student captures solar radiation to generate household power.
