Entrance Requirements
Entrance Requirements for Year 3:
Higher Diploma OR equivalent qualifications in a relevant area of study.

  1. Additional core modules may be required (with fee charged) for sub-degree graduates according to the educational background of individuals.
  2. All applicants are screened and selected by an Admission and Interview Panel. All interviews are conducted in English.

Programme Aims
This programme aims to nurture students to be highly skilled in designing and developing the various building services systems and become problem-solvers to meet the ever-changing industry challenges, which involve complex building technology, innovative building design, and green building assessment.  It also aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills of modern building services technologies, with emphasis on using projects and practical experience as the main learning and teaching strategy to reflect unique industry practice.
Career Prospects
Building Services Engineers are in high demand in the current job market and employment prospects are very good.  This programme provides a vocationally-oriented, well-balanced theoretical and practical base for a professional building services engineering career in various types of private and public employers, including consulting and contracting firms, construction companies, equipment manufacturers and suppliers, building developers and owners, facility and property management companies, power and utilities companies, and government departments.  Graduates can advance to managerial positions, such as the building services engineers in large and global construction firms and project managers in consultancy industries with the responsibilities of overseeing employees and operations in the construction fields. Graduates may also consider further study through master or doctoral degree programmes in local or overseas institutions.  The knowledge and skills from this programme will enable our graduates to get ready for their future career and become highly competitive in the industry.
Articulation
Graduates are able to articulate to Master’s programmes in building services engineering related disciplines such as Master of Science in Engineering (Building Services Engineering) offered by the University of Hong Kong and Master of Science in Building Services Engineering offered by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Professional Recognition
The programme aims to educate and train students to become professional engineers.  It has received the Accreditation from the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), and recognized by the Electrical and Mechanical Department (EMSD) of the HKSAR Government as satisfying the academic qualification requirement for the purpose of registration as Grade C electrical worker.
