Completion of Secondary 6 (under the New Senior Secondary academic structure) or equivalent.
Watch design, manufacture and maintenance consist of state-of-the-art technology and craftsmanship. Both manufacturers and dealers agency of famous watch brands require their employees receiving a formal training prior to do maintenance jobs in the service centres. This programme aims to provide students with basic technology and craftsmanship in watch and clock, and focus on the watch design, technology, and merchandising, so as to well equip them working in the watch and clock industry as watch designers or watchmaker in the future. Graduates may choose to seek employment or pursue further studies.
Graduates may be employed as watchmaker trainee, technician trainees, watch designer trainees, watch maintenance trainees, sales and merchandising assistants, trading assistants, assistant quality control officer or technician apprentices etc. They may work in the areas of watch design and development, sales and marketing, production management, watch product testing, project management, watch merchandising, and watch maintenance etc.
Holders of Diploma of Vocational Education (students admitted to DVE in AY2017/18 or before are required to complete prescribed further studies modules) are considered having met the general entrance requirements of Higher Diploma programmes (not applicable to programmes with specific entrance requirements). Graduates who are employed and registered as apprentices in the relevant trades could be exempted part of the training required. The apprenticeship could thus be shortened, normally up to a maximum of 12 months.
