Entrance Requirements
Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English Language and Chinese Language; OR VTC Diploma of Foundation Studies; OR VTC Diploma of Vocational Education / Diploma of Vocational Baccalaureate; OR Diploma Yi Jin; OR Equivalent.
Remarks :
  1. An "Attained", "Attained with Distinction (I)" and "Attained with Distinction (II)" in an HKDSE Applied Learning (ApL) subject (Category B subjects) are regarded as equivalent to an HKDSE subject at "Level 2", "Level 3" and "Level 4" respectively, and a maximum of two ApL subjects (excluding ApL(C)) can be counted for admission purpose.
  2. A "Grade D or E" and a "Grade C or above" in an HKDSE Other Language subject (Category C subjects) are regarded as equivalent to an HKDSE subject at "Level 2" and "Level 3" respectively, and one Other Language subject can be counted for admission purpose.
  3. Applicable to holders of Diploma in Vocational Education / Diploma of Vocational Education (DVE) (students admitted to DVE in AY2017/18 or before are required to complete prescribed further studies modules).
  4. Upon completion of the Diploma of Vocational Baccalaureate (DVB) Programmes, students can progress to higher diploma programmes in VTC, subject to their BTEC and IGCSE results.

Programme Aims
This programme aims to equip students with a broad and professional knowledge and skills for career development in the aviation industry. Students will be prepared to develop a breath of skills and knowledge across the aviation industry which includes fundamentals of aircraft, operational and management aspects of airlines and airports, as well as air cargo and logistics, ground handling and safety.  The programme also provides elective modules to equip students with required flying theory and graduates can pursue flight training with any government-approved provider if they are interested to become a pilot.

This programme is also designed with an emphasis on generic and language training, whole-person development and workplace experience to better prepare students for further studies and employment after graduation.
Career Prospects
For graduates of the Higher Diploma in Aviation, there is a broad range of career opportunities in the areas of air transportation, ground operations, logistics, airlines and airport operation, maintenance and repair, and government departments. Graduates will be able to seek employment as operation engineer, logistics engineer, planning officer, technical officer, fleet controller, cadet pilot, etc.
Articulation
Graduates can apply for the relevant degree programmes offered by local and overseas universities or receive exemptions from them. The level of exemption will be considered on individual basis. In particular, graduates can apply for admission to the top-up Bachelor of Applied Science in Aviation# jointly run in Hong Kong by School for Higher and Professional Education (SHAPE) of VTC and the RMIT University, Australia.

Higher Diploma in Aviation is recognized by RMIT University, Australia. Graduates with theories on the pilot licence in the programme can opt to further their pilot training and flying examinations in Australia for the pilot licence and the top-up Bachelor of Applied Science in Aviation.

The programme has maintained close contact with the aviation industry. We regularly invite guest speakers from industry and arrange aviation-related workplace attachments for students.
